Azeroth D&D Campaign Log - Myrkulverse

This is a recap of Session 0.

Starting party members are:
@Steadier
@Vaniah
@Raith
@Rohanon
@Navyvetnick

The above order is also the rotation for taking notes at each session. Steadier, you will take notes on Session 1, then Vaniah, and on and on down the list.

Please review the Iron Kingdoms thread to see how notes should look. They don’t need to be a novel, but they should capture everything that took place.

I will be using the notes you guys take to do a recap at the start of each session. This running log will also be a good resource if done correctly to look back on as a history of the campaign, in case something needs to be recalled later…

Example Notes Header:

Starting Location: Echo Islands

Reminders:

  • Races and Classes are independent.
  • Leveling and Reputation gains are done by Milestones
  • Starting level will be 1st, however, you should have your character sheet ready for up to 3rd level.
  • You can gain one extra ability score increase for your background if you can justify why that background would have it (i.e an acolyte having extra CHA or WIS, a sailor having extra STR or DEX)
  • If your Race selection has less than 30 base walking speed, you can forgo the extra ASI from the background and instead take the Mobile feat.

I would aim to have our first session be on 6/5/2023 or 6/12/2023. Basically, I need everyone to collaborate and figure out who they’re playing, and leave me enough time to review everything before Session 1. So once I get the character sheets in, the start date won’t be far behind that.

Due to time commitments, Steadier has dropped out of the campaign and will be placed by Lord Rayven.

As expected, the separated nature of the followers of Myrkul across the Sword Cost of Faerun posed no challenge to Myrkul when it came time for him to call them to duty. Independently, and in response to their own visions and calls to service, the individual knights journeyed over varying distances to arrive simultaneously outside of The Obsidian Spire. Elder Doom Bloodgrave stepped out and welcomed the followers of Myrkul to enter and learn of their Lords will.

As Bloodgrave spoke, the task at hand became clear. Myrkul requires a vanguard of loyal vassals to venture forth into a new realm and spread his influence and offer his release from the curse of life to yet another world. The world of Azeroth must feel the cold embrace of Myrkul.

Transportation was announced to be provided by the Spelljamming ship that has been provided by Myrkuls providence to his most devoted followers. A map of the new realm was provided by Bloodgrave and each member of Myrkuls Vanguard was provided a blood red ring with which they would be able to communicate with not only each other, but with Myrkuls chosen leaders across the realms.

Additionally, Vaniah and Rohanon were each provided with an 8” long, obsidian spire. The purpose of these spires has not yet been revealed, but Bloodgrave gave assurance that their purpose would be revealed in time. For now, keep them hidden and protected until called upon to use them.

The following morning, undaunted by the task before them, Myrkuls vanguard set out aboard the Spelljammer, in route to the certainty of a world ripe for the salvation of Myrkul.

Upon arrival, they faced a jungle environment and with the promise of civilization nearby, immediately set out to explore and find their route to the souls that Myrkul craves. Along the way, various denizens of the environment attempted in their own way to slow the progress of the dauntless team, to no avail. Creatures such as an Alligator, Jungle Spiders, Skeletons (pathetic creations, unsanctioned by Myrkul) and even a Raptor fell quickly to the jungle floor, barely slowing the advance.

Eventually the team came across a wounded Troll, barely clinging to life. In the interest of gaining information, though distasteful, it was decided the best course of action was to revive the fallen individual, granting a temporary reprieve from the embrace of Myrkul.

The individual, named Zekar, proved to be an individual haling from the town nearby. It soon came to light that while out searching for a lost treasure in the nearby islands, a team of explorers from this town had fallen victim to Orc raiders. The chieftain’s son was captured and Zekar had been attempting to search for further evidence of the location of the Orcs when he had the unfortunate luck to meet the Raptor that had only recently been dispatched by the followers of Myrkul.

After some negotiation, it was decided that the team would assist in rescuing the Chiefs son, in exchange for information on the “treasure” and an introduction to the Chief that would be sure to follow. Any expedition, after all, needs funding and introduction to those in leadership positions to ascertain the best ways to ensure Myrkuls vision is realized.

After a nights rest, the crew set forth on a boat and soon landed at a small island where Zekar assured us there should be two temples and most likely the Orcish forces that had captured the Chiefs son. Soon, a fork in the path was found, leading to the two separate temples.

Opting to go “left” first, the team quickly discovered a chest atop what appeared to be an alter like structure. Though the chest was trapped, such things, and the damage involved, proved no deterrent to bravery (bravado?) of Myrkuls chosen. The chest contained the bounty of 250gp to further Myrkuls desires.

Atop the pyramid structure that was located behind this altar, the team discovered an Emerald colored spherical object of magical properties. Thankfully, Zekar was ordered to identify the object and as expected, he followed the directions of his superiors and quickly did so. The item proved to be an Arcane Emeraldstone, an item perfectly suited to enhance the Mykrul granted abilities of Vaniah, and it was quickly decided she would wield the item as soon as she is able to attune to it.

Backtracking to the righthand path, the team quickly discovered the second temple to be guarded, as expected, by orcish forces. Obtaining the element of surprise, the team attacked. Sometimes the simplest strategy is, well, just simpler!

Battle was quickly joined, and the orcs began to fall like rows of wheat at the harvest. While this proved to be the first challenge Myrkuls faithful had faced, and despite Rohanon falling only to be almost immediately brought back into the fight by Rayven and a timely healing potion, the foregone conclusion of victory was quickly accomplished.

The Chiefs son was rescued from where he was being held within the temple and after some rather frustrating searching, a hidden entrance at the base and rear of the temple was discovered. Within was a large room with 6 chests in a line across the back. It was quickly asserted that an area of tiles on the floor was suspicious and quickly the hidden treasure store within the floor was discovered and rightfully plundered in the name of Myrkul. Included with the gold was a tablet, evidence towards the greater treasure contained somewhere within this island chain. Rayven did insist on “checking” the chests that lined the back of the room, each of which was trapped, and most of which were empty. Bloodied by undeterred, he assured the team through effort alone, that nothing in fact was being left behind that could prove useful to Myrkuls will.

As the team made camp for the night in front of the temple, a sense of eager anticipation permeated the thoughts, conversation and even the dreams of Myrkuls faithful. What will tomorrow bring?

The party interviews Zekar about the tablet, learning it refers to a “Snake Temple” that is part of the troll’s history and they want to find it for historical and archaeological reasons. Some discussion also occurred around the concept of Loa’s, or the various spirits the Trolls worship. Rayvens attempts to discuss Myrkul fell on mostly deaf and confused ears.

Zekar and Kaza’Jin led team to their village where they met the village chieftain, a woman. The party spent some time exploring the village and spoke with the proprietors of the local inn as well as some of the citizens within. Through discussions at the end, and a visit to the local apothecary, the following tasks were discovered as available options to pursue further knowledge and potential funds.

  1. Etha, the apothecary’s’ son is missing. Reji hasn’t returned from an herb gathering venture to a nearby island.

  2. The caravans of supplies to the nearby outpost has recently been raided by a group of bandits known as the “Northwatch”. The village chieftain is willing to hire the party to provide protection for the next caravan which will be leaving in 2-3 days.

  3. The “Snake Temple” described on the tablet is pointed out on a local map provided by the chieftain. This temple is believed to hold historical treasures.

  4. There is rumor of Quillboar invasions some days travel to the north near a location referred to as “Razor Hill”.

The team decides to borrow Zakars longboat and head out in search of the Snake Temple, with the expectation of looking for Etha’s son along the way back if able. The plan is to return within time to still provide security for the next caravan to depart.

Myrkuls Vangaurd forth, and after several hours at sea, finds the island with the Snake Temple. Boldly they ventured into the temple. Adventuring forth and finding disguised entrances to various hidden rooms and dealing only somewhat successfully with traps before them, the party made its way through the temple. Along the way they fought giant serpents and increasingly difficult waves of Snake people. Behind the final temple room, a giant plant beast was fought that seemed to grow from the vines themselves. During the course of the battles, both Rohanan and Atticus took unplanned naps during battle, a trend that must be addressed moving forward!

The looting of the temple was a success as the following items were recovered. Each item is made with a distinct snake motif.

  1. Magical Yumi (Large longbow)

  2. Magical Tower Shield

  3. Magical Cloak

  4. Magical fingerless snakeskin gloves

  5. Magical Silver Necklace with snake pendant

It remains to be discussed what to do with the items plundered. The village chieftain is likely to want them returned to her people for historical reasons. The items are yet to be identified to determine their true function and purpose. Additionally, the crew were able to recover 2 barrels of mead and 1 barrel of liquor from what appeared to have long ago been a tavern.

Upon completion of exploring the temple, the team has had a long rest and landed at the small island on which they plan to search for the apothecary’s missing son, Reji.

Atticus and Vaniah gather some herbs, while Vanray searches around and sees nothing too dangerous. Yavo finds paw prints and searches them out and finds wolves! We destroy them, by we I mean Vaniah. We go a little further and find snakes, Yavo shows his skill decapitating one with his bow, Vaniah follows up with a perfect shot exploding a 2nd, then snap shotting another one Yavo damaged an kills it.

Atticus and Vanray drink and watch as they mow them down. We find Reji’s camp and find his notes on a spotted mushroom, and tracks for him and what looks like a huge snake going in the opposite direction. We head towards Reji and find a swamp wolf beast and we all jump on it and attack and kill it. Yavo skins it for 10 lbs of leather and some ball sac leather for gloves. Reji says he needs to find a cave for the mushroom. We find the cave and are attacked by a large spider. We all piss around with it barely damaging it when Yavo shoots an arrow doing massive damage, chunks o spider go everywhere, but it still lives. It gets revenge and knocks Yavo out, Vanray saves him using a healing potion as a suppository which immediately resses him. We quickly finish it off, grab some mats from the spider and go look for the mushroom.

We find the mushroom, start a short rest and immediately get disrupted by a giant snake. We all attack, Atticus takes a nap mid fight, Vanray goes Reckless and misses everything, Roh also goes slobbery and kills it. We talk to Reji about finding someone to ID some things we found. Introducing us to Nuje perhaps. We get back at 2 PM. We talk to Reji’s mom and discuss making potions with Atticus and Vaniah learning from her. We got 150 gold from her. Minus 110G for ID. Profit of 40G

We meet Neua and get it all ID and Yavo and I both offer our services. Session 4 7-7-23

Gold 1109
Gems 2 Rubies, 1 Emerald

Session begins on Bloodmoon 6 with the group loaded on the wagons to protect the supply run to. Vanray is on the lead wagon with Ak’jash, Atticus in the second, Yavo and Vaniah living it up in the third, and Roh on the final wagon. Most of the day passes on with no incident until Ak’jash notices something in the road and whistles to the group to look lively and slows the wagons. They see the road is barricade with a few traps by the road. Seeing that something was about to go down Atticus cast disguise self on himself giving him the appearance of a grizzled old troll. Rohanon Notices and calls out there are 3 sharpshooters arranged on the cliff above them. Ray jumps down off the wagon to investigate and finds the North watch bandits have surrounded them. Atticus tells the group he would like to parlay the bandits if possible. Atticus in his disguised state approaches the bandit leader and engages in a back and fourth with him. Atticus uses his skills in persuasion to convince the bandit leader the wagons are nothing but a decoy and the real wagons had taken a different route with alittle help from a subtle suggestion spell. The bandit leader calls out to let the caravan thru and Atticus returns to his wagon. Yavo and Vaniah notice one of the bandits eyeballing the wagons as he notices they are really full of supply’s and calls to the leader. Atticus assures the leader that it is all part of the illusion and that there is nothing there. Bandit leader and two others go to clear the barricades as Atticus’s persuasion is just to good. The nosey bandit Yavo and Vaniah seen that was snooping round the wagons cant seem to grasp its a illusion and inches his way to the supply’s. In a attempt to distract him from the back of the carriage by offering him some ale, but that is not enough to entice him away. The bandit sticks a grain bag with his sword and sees the grain running out. Atticus makes his way to the nosey bandit in a attempt to throw him off. Atticus casts a minor illusion spell to make the bag be filled with sand, but the bandit puts his hand in it and sees its really flour. Combat commences and blood begins to be spilt. Atticus, Vaniah, and Rohanon take care of the ground bandits, Vanray takes out the barricade bandits, Yavo and Ak’jash take care of the sharpshooters. After seeing his crew all being slaughtered the bandit leader surrenders himself to the group. Rohanon with his blood lust slides his sword in him between his collarbones. Loot yielded from this encounter is oddly shaped key which went to the set of manacles and a map from the bandit leader. 200 gold was collected from all the dead bandits.

Rohanon studies the map and finds various ambush spots and other locations, But more importantly he finds the North Watch hold. The group decides to finish the convoy deliver the goods to the den. After arriving at the Den that turns out to be a boot camp for there young warriors. Vaniah and Atticus gather herbs which yielded 2 lavender and 8 star flower. Ak’jash inquires with Roh about the map that was found. She pokes for info on if we are gonna go after the North Watch hold. She offers her services in the endeavor. After debate on the best way to move forward, it is decided they will head to Ratchet and then move on the Hold. The group agrees Ak’jash will be useful and invite her along.

On Bloodmoon 7 the group sends the new warriors back to Senjin to let the chief know we was successful and We head to Ratchet accompanied by Ak’jash. The group makes their way to a Ferryman to take them to Ratchet. The ferryman required 50 gold for everyone. Yavo talks to his fellow sailor and negotiates it down to a barrel of ale. On the ferry ride the ferryman informs the group of the bounty that razorhill just put out for a thunder lizard that pays 4000 gold. It is decided the group will goto the hold then decide on taking the bounty. Upon reaching Ratchet Yavo and Roh go to the vendor to try and get Yavo some studded leather armor. After intense negotiation between Roh and the goblin vendor which ended in Roh removing his helmet for the first time in the campaign. Though this would scare most the goblin is unfazed and its agreed that Yavo will pay 125 and the scale mail Yavo had on him. Vanray insist on getting the goblins name which is Oirk. The group gets a room for 20 gold for the night.

After a full nights rest the group set out for the hold on Bloodmoon 8. While making their way to the hold the group encounters 3 camps along the way. Due too alittle to much ale the group wasnt exactly stealthy coming through and was seen by the first camp but was able to sneak up on the second. The first two only having scouts and a few sharpshooters make for easy work by the group in no small part to Atticus’s incredible damage numbers. Ak’jash showed the group it was wise to bring her as she inflicted incredible amounts of damage. 50 gold was collected from the first two camps. The third camp the group was concealed by the low light of the coming night. Roh and Vanray decide they was going to rush the camp and Vaniah and Yavo would make a ranged attack. Both being successful combat commences. During combat Atticus helped Vaniah and Yavo by yetting the bandits that was on them 90 feet into the ocean. With all his minnions dead the chief surrenders to Rohanon, which history tells us will not end well. With the group yelling NOOOOOOO, Rho slices the top of his head off. On the Chiefs body is another key and manacles. A map was also found that is pretty much identical to the other they found just with more detail of the surrounding area. It is decided we will stay in the camp we cleared for the night. The undead rested for 4 hours, Yavo rested 4 hours after them, and Ak’jash got a full 8 rest which put everyone at full strength.

After a rest everyones at full strength the group sets out and arrives at the North Watch Hold on Bloodmoon 9.

This session began with Myrkuls Vangaurd determining the best tactical plan with which to remove the members of the Northwatch Bandits from Northwatch Hold. After some scouting, a breach in the wall was discovered and the party made their approach with great stealth. During this approach, a mine entrance was spotted and sounds of work from within. Investigation of the mine resulted in the freeing of two captured individuals who eagerly agreed to assist in delivering a proper message to the bandit crew.

Once again, the crew proceeded undaunted to enter the keep through a hole in the wall. Upon breaching the wall, Myrkuls Finest proceeded to work, room to room, eliminating pockets of bandits with abandon. After clearing the 2nd group who were caught drinking and planning around a table, the team opted to keep the “last man standing” alive for some chit chat time. Following some quality bonding time, it was discovered that there were at least two primary groups remaining to be dealt with. A group eating breakfast in the main dining hall and a group that was preparing to depart for a raid. Additionally, it was determined that the bandit’s fearsome leader would be located on the “highest tower” with his personal guard. There was some frustration over determination of which tower was taller, but ultimately the team proceeded to take the shortest route to the top of the keep available.

Arrival to the “roof” led to a crazy and lengthy battle fighting waves of mortals, eager to rush into Myrkuls embrace. Initially the team ran into the team preparing to depart, dispatching them with relative ease though burning through more precious resources in the process. Spotted by the leader and his lads, a ranged exchange began with members of both teams firing from cover and maneuvering for advantage.

At one point Atticus unceremoniously dumped a bandit back downstairs (and apparently directly into the chow hall) which of course brought the last of the bandit reinforcements running to join the fun. After a lengthy and pitched battle, Myrkuls Vanguard advanced forward through the ranks of the mortals, slaying the “rather weak” leader along the way, as though more of a speed bump than a true impediment. Victory was achieved and the keep cleared of valuables.

The team opted to take the 3-day journey back to the troll village to return the lost members and seek the richly deserved reward and ensure all who witnessed their triumphant return bore witness to the power of those who follow Myrkul.

Arriving on Bloodmoon 12, the team met with the chieftain as well as an emissary from somewhere called Orgrimmar. The head of the bandit leader was provided as proof and some sort of ritual was performed in which the head was animated partially to ensure the spirit of the bandit leader would experience exquisite pain and torture for a great length of time.

The village Chieftain presented Myrkuls Vanguard with the deed to Northwatch Hold as an additional reward beyond the 400GP promised. Additionally, they were provided with a voucher for an additional 500GP in construction supplies to be provided by the village when the team begins work on restoration of the keep. It remains up to the group to find the proper renovation team to facilitate repairs, though they are told that HGTV has an office in Orgrimmar.

Upon discussion, the group decided to proceed north towards Orgrimmar, with the intent along the way to collect the bounty for slaying the dreaded THUNDAR LIZARD! Proceeding forth, the team arrived at the outpost where the bounty was posted. After speaking with the mayor briefly and coming to an agreement on the bounty contract they followed the directions provided and began to press forward into the canyon where their targets lair was located.

Before long, the team rounded the proverbial “last” corner and battle was joined. The lizard for its part was big, and by big, I mean clearly huge, but not quite gargantuan. (Measurements were not obtained so the truth will never be fully known) Myrkuls Vanguard opened the battle with an opening onslaught of destruction for the ages. It is rumored among Myrkuls faithful that he turned his head in that moment and took personal notice as Rayven and Vaniah especially opened a fresh can of “Myrkuls Wraith” (patent pending) the likes of which are rarely seen. From that point forward however, the lizard was awake, and the battle went back and forth with Vaniah, Rayven, and Rohanon ultimately behaving largely as Weeble Wobbles, being knocked down to only pop back up and get knocked down again. In the end, Myrkuls faithful prevailed as of course they would.

Returning to the outpost with the “huge” lizard was quite a spectacle for the residents and negotiations for reward were quickly made. In addition to collecting the 4,000GP rewards, arrangements were made for the local enchanter to create two magic items from the remains of the Thunder Lizard. A Warhammer for Rayven and a shiny new (red) coat for Atticus. With all rewards, glory, adoration and cash paid out, the team retired for the evening to the local inn. Tomorrow. . . quill boars must be dealt with.

Purchases: Tattoo for Rayven (4,000GP), Vaniahs’ curse was removed from Arcane Emeraldstone as well as a buff added 1,500GP were arranged with enchanter Borba in Razor Hill

Rumors to consider for work:

  • Bloodsail Buccaneers on the Scuttle Coast are causing trade issues. Chief Durbol at Razor Hill is planning to send a disguised merchant ship from Orgrimmar to hunt the pirates. Myrkuls Vanguard has the option to go pirate hunting. Reward not specifically discussed.
  • Some giant Ogre like creature is rumored to be at the Dustwind Cave. Reward unknown currently.
  • Quill Boar raids are an issue out of a Quill Boar encampment less than a day from Razor Hill. 1,500 GP reward for leader’s head from Chief Durbol.

Ultimately Myrkuls Vanguard determined the most expeditious plan to obtain the funds lacking towards Vanrays Tattoo was to deal with the Quill Boar threat and simply retrieve a head post haste. On Bloodmoon the 15th the dauntless crew headed out to find the Quill Boar encampment. Late in the afternoon as dusk was soon arriving, the team found the entrance to the Quill Boar encampment and were quickly spotted by the guard patrol placed at the entrance.

The guard captains immediate challenge of “Who goes there and what do you want?” caused an immediate reaction of attack, death, and destruction from Myrkuls loyal slaughterers. Well actually, it caused some minor confusion as the team was initially unsure how to react. Ultimately the quick decision was made to proselytize of Myrkuls greatness and request audience with the Quill Boar chief whose name it was discovered is Akkos.

The guard captain, whose name as it turned out is Cresran, was willing to engage in some conversation and even demonstrated some magical ability granted by the Quill Boar deity of death. After some quick posturing for Myrkul, it was proposed by Cresran that if the team was able to deal with a problem for the Quill Boar, then he would be willing to take them to meet with Akkos and further express the word of Myrkul.

After some quick mental conference, the team decided it would clearly be easier to take out a single nuisance than to fight the entire Quill Boar encampment, and if all went to hell when they met with the Chieftain, they could always just take his head then and figure it out. With an accord reached, Cresran led the team further into the Quill Boar encampment and to a gate near the back. Opening the gate Cresran motioned the team through with a only slightly sincere “good luck”.

Around a single hairpin turn the team quickly found their quarry. I truly huge (but not quite gargantuan) scorpion and battle was joined. The usual tri-fecta of Vanray, Rohanon and Vaniah leapt forward to engage the foul creature, all landing blows. Vaniah in particular draws the ire of the Scorpion with a particularly effective scratch to its face region. The scorpion, taking great umbrage at the marring of its visage proceeded to attack Vaniah, effectively knocking her out with a savage clasp of its claw. Subsequently and having also knocked Rohanon back, the Scorpion proceeded to also cause Atticus to faint into an involuntary nap. Myrkuls mighty quickly prevailed however with Vanray chopping off the Scorpions tail as proof of a deed done well and the crew proceeding back to show Cresran the proof required.

Introductions to Chief Akkos soon followed and the proof of Myrkuls might was welcomed. Much negotiation and droll ramblings of Atticus followed with the end result of an accord with the Quill Boars reached. They would move to Northwatch Hold and become the first permanent inhabitants of Myrkuls new base in these lands, providing protection, trade and being allowed to live off the nearby land. Additionally, Rohanon and Vanray both took on Quill Boar squires to teach the ways of Myrkul. Rohanon chose Cresran and Vanray adopted and promptly renamed the newly anointed “War Pig” as his squire.

With Cresran and War Pig in tow, the team returned the following morning to Razor Hill, without a head but with potentially much more accomplished. Some quick negotiation and assurances of the end of the Quill Boar threat with Chief Durbol and the team was still able to extract the 1,500GP reward, allowing Vanray to get the tattoo of Pink Tulips across his breasts that he had been so determined to obtain.

On Bloodmoon the 17th the team headed northward towards Dustwind Cave and a potential entanglement with an oversized Ogre. Upon arrival, however, and seeing the nearly gargantuan sized tracks of the creature, the team ultimately decided to press on to Orgrimmar. They have an invitation to a gathering of some sort of high muckity mucks that may provide not only a windfall of financial opportunities but also insight into the power structure of the region. Something Myrkul will absolutely want them to take advantage of in the future.

On the evening of Bloodmoon the 18th, Myrkuls Vanguard arrives outside the gates of Orgrimmar. What dangers, opportunities and most importantly what manner of ales await within?

Arriving outside of Orgrimmar on the evening of Bloodmoon the 18th, Myrkuls Vanguard met Vuljen and Ak’Jash outside the city and confirm their arrival and that the meeting of the leaders will take place at sunrise in the morning. After some pleasantries, the party proceeded to move into Orgrimmar.

The first order of business, as usual, was to check out the tavern and inn. After having a quick round, the various members of the team proceeded to go scouting and get the feel for the city, checking on various vendors. The most important information obtained was a haggled price of 22,550GP for Northwatch Hold to be repaired, and a shipyard built. This price is assuming the 500GP in goods from the Troll village that is owed as well as the unskilled labor of the quill boars.

In the morning, proceeding to the meeting, the team sees a large flaming portal of some sort, just a short distance from the building where the meeting will take place. Curious but looking for business and most importantly cash, the team proceeded into the meeting.

Around a large table with maps of the Horde lands, the various elders were gathered, including Thrall. Myrkuls Vanguard quickly learn that there is a portal to the fire realm that is opening into Orgrimmar, and the Hoard leaders would like to hire the team to assist.

It seemed that a group of druids has already entered the portal to attempt to stop it finishing it’s forming from the other side but had not been heard from. The various leaders proceeded to provide excuses as to why they couldn’t provide forces to assist. From stories of a “Scarlett Monastery” attacking, to something about a place called “Shadowfang Keep” it seemed everyone had their hands full.

After some minor and unsuccessful haggling by Atticus, the group agrees to the original offer of 10k GP if they will enter the portal to the fire realm, rescue the Druid Circle and find a way to stop the portal from opening, or preferably close it.

Proceeding through the portal, (It was a toasty ride) the group quickly runs into what remains of the druid group. Mostly gravely injured, it becomes apparent they have been under constant attack. They do inform the party they believe there are two primary opponents remaining, as well as some Lieutenant behind a magical barrier of some sort that is working to complete the opening of the portal.

Undaunted, the team presses forward to look for a solution to the problem at hand. With only minor backtracking they find the first of the creatures they must face. Caught in the middle of torturing someone, they first fight a large spider like creature with the torso of humanoid. After slaying this foe, they find what appears to be half of a large seemingly magical gemstone.

Next the team comes across a tall demonic looking creature with a goat’s horns. Upon slaying this best, they discover a second half to the magical gemstone. Scoffing in the face of caution and common sense, Atticus pressed the two halves together, knocking virtually everyone on their butts from the blast, but the shimmering field guarding the last room faded out.

Entering this last room, the team faced the Fire Elemental Lieutenant, a challenging foe that nearly knocked everyone down. Except that is Yavo, who not only managed to slay the beast, but come out entirely unscathed and made the rest of the team feel a little out of sorts as they hobbled and drugthemselves back to the portal.

As the team arrived, the portal began to collapse and the druids first, and then the team all rushed through, managing to return to Orgrimmar just as the portal collapsed and closed behind them.

Thrall was awaiting them on the other side, congratulating them on their success and for saving the druids. Offering to meet back up after the team takes a well-deserved break for baths and food, Thrall departs after offering the service of a pair of Warlocks to identify the items the team took from their slain foes. The items they had obtained are:

  1. Thalgar’s Hellfire Hornaxe

  2. Arachnus Emberweave Vestments

  3. Ignarius’ Flamebore

After identification was complete, Rayven successfully hit on one of the female Warlocks and decided it was time to take her on a date. How could that not be more important than getting paid! Obviously nothing could go wrong!

Continueing on blood moon 19 our band of Myrkuls death dealers pick up still talking to Thrall and his 2 warlocks. it is decided that they will clean up and goto Thralls hall and sort out the payment. Vanray while dolling himself up took his lady friend bullake with him to assist. Yavo while others are cleaning up decides to visit the blacksmith to sell his Yumi since he was right as rain leaving the portal. The price not being to his liking considering it was used by the world famous Yavo, he decided to hold on to it. As the group meets with Thrall at his war room planning table, Vanray is singled out by Vuljen and Ak’jash for smelling as if he was in a whore house. The meeting then commences as Thralls guard drops the 10k gold payment on the table. After some unsuccessful haggling the reward did not increase. Thrall informs the group that word from Razorhill from the chief that the merchant ship is ready for the group to go take care of the pirate issue. Atticus works on negotiating thru Ak’jash with Chief Durbol. It is decided since no reinforcements would be available the payment would go from 2500 to 5000 and they can keep any loot plus the pirates ship if it can be salvaged. Yavo also tells of the land living sea monster the group had come across. They have not heard anything about this creature and Thrall decides to send one of Vuljen’s shadow hunters to get more information on it. Yavo and Vanray goes to the potion lady Feylin (couldn’t spell the real name) too precure some potions for the upcoming battle. In true Vanray fashion decides to flirt with Feylin but his whorish odor repulses her. She informs us she has the following potions. 3 common 2d4+2 for 60 gold 2 uncommon 4d4+4 200 per 1 rare 600 gold 8d4+8. It is decided we will buy all the potions for 1180 gold. The group goes to find the jeweler to get their new fancy jewel appraised.
Rohannon shows Kesia the goblin jewel crafter the gem and is offered 500 gold off the bat. It is decided we want to know the properties of the gem first. She informs them it will be ready when they return from their next endeavor do to whosdads lack of preparation. After a night of rest the crew wake up and goto the dock to meet Vagz the goblin to receive our boat. We board the Darkspear Windreaver a battleship made to look like a merchant vessel. The crew set sail south with Yavo on the wheel, Vanray in the crows nest and the others at the front and back of the ship as a lookout. After a few hours a ship is seen in the distance off to the SW. The crew working together as a well oiled machine began adjusting sails, adjusting course, and dropping weight to gain speed and catch the pirate vessel. upon catching the ship battle ensues. After a few shot exchanged to the side of the ship, Vaniah, Rohanon, Atticus, and Vanray manage to inflict enough damage to the pirate vessel’s mast for us to prepare to board. Vanray and Rohanon are yeeted toward the captain of the pirate ship by Atticus. The captain is slayed but the crew continues to fight to avenge their captain. Vaniah slays the 2 pirates that managed to make their way to our boat while Atticus yeets 2 pirates into the ocean. Rohanon and Vanray are able to slay the last few and even knocked one of the crew out to interrogate. The crew brings both boats to a stop. Loot rendered was charts of the coasts of Duratar, the barrens, and Dustwallow marsh and a treasure map along with 2500 gold and 1 of each gem stone. It is believed the pirates come from Alcaz island off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh. After repairs to both boats are complete the crew starts to feel vibrations on the deck. The waters become calm and as panic sets in tenicles come from the water and a Kraken revels itsself. Initiate order is Roh 20, ray 22, Vaniah 12, Yavo 9, and Atticus 19.

Rare: Amethyst, Diamond, Topaz, Sapphire

The battle begins with most of the party on the Pirate boat and Yavo in the nest on our boat when the Kraken attacks. It’s a cacophony of us chopping, sniping and spell casting tentacles and with Yavo doing some truly impressive shots. Once the tentacles are chopped down the Kraken shows it’s head, but we’re hungry and bring it down pretty fast ending up with a bunch of sushi. We cut the head off and take it with us as proof of the battle.

We manage to recruit the only survivor Andre to our cause (cause he wants loot) and he will watch our new boat. We get the boats back to shore and manage to lug the Kraken head to Orgrimmar where it’s mounted on a tall post and we visit Thrall. We explain in detail the fight with the pirate and the surprise attack of the Kraken and are awarded the 5k bounty of the pirate of our name “Myrkuls’ Undead Lords” under the Kraken’s head to show who killed it. Thrall lets us know there’s a new threat in a cave, a Sea giant and an even bigger reward of 8k.

We had our fun that night and all got a good night’s rest so we’re ready for the giant fight. We get to the cave to find him all the way back in a huge cavern. Let’s just say that maybe, just maybe we were not quite as ready as we thought. He beat us down worse than the pirates and Kraken combined. But we did manage in the end to take it down and remove its head. It was carrying a +1 Great Sword, a pearl of wisdom and 3k gold in his stash. By the time we get back we’re exhausted (1 level of exhaustion) and await Thrall. On the way back we discuss heading across the ocean and perhaps checking out Scarlet Monastery.

During the zeppelin trip they are met by a unexpected guest. Elder Doom Bloodgrave to inform us of the Burning Legion slipping thru the barrier and are expanding there influence. It is asked if we would like to ally with the burning legion or if we would like to save the world for Myrkul alone. Its deciding we will not be affiliated with any other group. The burning legion is looking to open a portal to Bring the rest of their group thru. He tells us Salvonice has a strong relationship with the dead and her right hand man theramopolice is a former member of the burning legion. upon arrival at theBrill the group is met by someone who guides them to a barn where Salvonice is waiting. Whosdad fills in whatever she said. The group heads to the the camp. After some time at the camp the heads into the undercity. Lead by Vanray and his super stealth the group make their way thru. They find a room that looks like a torture chamber of sorts. The group being extra sneaky is able to fire off a shot before he even knows they are there. battle ensues and the group is able to defeat him. Moving forward the group finds themselves in the doorway of a courtyard/graveyard. Full of bloodlust from the previous battle Vanray rages right into battle surrounding himself with undead. Though not a easy fight the group is able to defeat all the undead with the help of Atticus and his spells. Moving forward they reach what appears to be a boss. Still with the help of Atticus and his powerful spell the group is able to take him out.

Upon the defeat of the Lich, Myrkuls Undead Lords took a short break to recuperate and prepare for the next challenge before them. Having found the key to the “library” it was determined this would be the next location to clear of mortal foes.

Though there was some manner of force field across the entry to the library, it posed no barrier to entry (likely due to possession of the key?) and our intrepid anti-heroes proceeded to enter the library wing of the Scarlet Monastery. After a short walk down a long hallway, Vanray discovered a large room, centrally dominated by some sort of fountain. Gathered here was a motley crew of mortals eager to meet Myrkul.

Following an opening surprise volley from Yavo’s gun and a mighty leap from Vanray, battle was joined. The battle proved to be a challenging affair with attempted fireballs by the enemy and pesky clerics attempting to keep the mortals from Myrkuls embrace. Though Atticus and Vaniah both took brief naps, teamwork, and the superior will of Myrkul prevailed and the team was soon victorious if slightly banged up.

Vanray then proceeded to regale the team with bar tales of some manner of beast trainer behind the single door in the room. After much discussion around the need for a bed and a hot meal, Vanrays arguments won the day and the crew proceeded to push through the doors to meet this fabled foe.

As the team entered battle with an individual named “Loksey” (a rather unimpressive name if you ask me) he proceeded to summon waves of puppies, as if they would somehow help him survive. They did not, and he was quickly dispatched, and his “Dog Whistle” taken as trophy.

Further depleted in resources and health, the team again debated what was sure to be a delicious meal and well-earned rest. Vanray once again proved the boldest of the group and proposed a plan to begin to clear the next hallway of mortal foes. After much discussion, he proceeded to “pull” the first wave of foes, which turned out to be twice what he believed it would be.

Once again, battle was joined, fighting a group like the first. This time the fight took place in a tighter location, a hallway. Vanray spent a brief amount of time as a Giant Grape Ape, blocking the doorway and Rohanon was briefly felled as he found himself unceremoniously shuffled into the middle of the enemy due to the Apes rather profound girth. In the end, and as expected all along, Myrkuls Undead Lords prevailed once again, and mortal souls once again became the property of Myrkul.

Having fully exhausted their resources, health, and drive, Myrkuls finest finally gave in to the growling in their bellies and exhaustion. Returning to the encampment outside of the Scarlet Monastery, the crew ate a hot meal of undefined stew and lay down for a well-earned long rest.

We head down the hallway and get the battle on with a bunch of clerics, Centurions, Monks, Crusaders and sorcerers. It’s a huge melee of damage everywhere. Atticus gets spirit guardians up, Yavo snipes away the rest melee. Spells, melee and blood and we clear the halls. We loot 4 health pots and distribute them. Most of us cannibalize the bodies. We work our way to the end of the area and kill a bunch of Doan Apparitions. We enter the last room and the door slams behind us. We see Doan appear and the fight begins. Doan has a shield around him and the melee guys work at smashing I down. A quick whistle spell by Atticus is dispelled as soon as it’s cast. The melee crew continued to work at smashing the shield. After more spells are cast it seems magic will not work here. He firewalls us and we all take damage, we’re then attacked by force damage. We keep the damage up, now we’re able to attack with physical and spell damage. Yavo does fierce enough damage to make Doan misty step away. Through much trial we take him down. We find a key and a sending stone (last recording said Sending stone says Lord Jaraxxus has uncovered a …), looted a bunch of health pots. We all take a short rest then head to the Armory where Rayven spots 3 guys, ends here, I think.

Loot: 400 Gold, Potions where passed out, Scroll of fireball 3rd level , 2 Doan Crystaline mana potions, 1 scrolls or arcane weaver, Cloak of protection +1, 3 Gems 1 legendary, 2 rare.

So far these are the 4 things we’ve learned from the sending stones.

Gul’dan will arrive at the agreed upon location on the 15th of Voidshroud. Ensure that the mana crystals are ready and on site.

Picking up on Goldenharvest 4 The group is standing outside the courtyard of the armory. After a quick assessment from what Vanray could see the group begins combat. Vanray and Rho fling themselves into the thick of combat and begin working on the marksman in the yard. After it was to late and combat has started the group learners there is a few more enemies they wasn’t able to see. As the enemy marksman started working their way to surrounding the group, the situation started looking really bad. Luckily a well placed fireball from Vaniah gave the group the small window they needed to take the fight back. The fight yields 1 common healing potion and 2 uncommon healing potions from the crusaders. Moving on to door and hallway off the courtyard we scout the next room. We decide we will funnel the enemies into the hallway and take them out as they come thru. The plan works flawlessly and the group quickly runs thru their foes. On their enemies they find yet another common and uncommon healing potion. A secret room is located and within the group finds documents on a table and a uncommon healing potion. In the documents it is found that the writing is in a demonic language and its a map for a attack plan on a castle in Silverpine Forrest. Pushing further in and to the next hallway hallway we again scout and decide we will pull the enemies to another hall way. As the enemies assemble at the end of the hallway Atticus decides hes going to shoot the barrels of what is presumed to be gunpowder behind the enemy. Though damaging enemies Atticus managed to blind half the crew and knocked Vaniah to the ground. After a few turns the crew is able to recover mostly and start taking out all the enemies thanks in part to the last minute thinking of Atticus to turn Vanray into a giant gorilla to finish them. loot taken from those enemies was 4 uncommon healing potions on the Centurions and on the cleric 1 common healing potion. Vanray tried to convince the group to push forward even though they look like a bag of ass. Atticus and Yavo take a hard stance on no and they decide to head back to camp for a long rest. upon getting to camp the deathgaurd look upon the crew and snicker. Vanray decides to spit in the face of the deathgaurd. Stay tuned for this ass whooping next session.

After dealing with the dizzy spinning of Herod and emerging victorious, the intrepid crew ventured out of the armory to prepare to face down the final wing of the Scarlett Monastery, the vaunted “Cathedral”. Upon exit, the team were greeted by Elder Doom Bloodgrave who introduced the group to the “first” convert of Myrkul in this new realm, an individual introduced as Spinnock Durav, a former disciple of Arthas.

Once quick introductions were completed and a quick short rest accomplished, the team ventured forth into the Scarlett Monastery, down a long haul that contained within it an odd sense of Déjà vu. Undaunted, the team quickly concocted a solid plan to pull and funnel the enemy through a narrow passage into the longer hallway, even deploying several large crates to further solidify their position.

The plan went off nearly without a hitch, and the team moved forward across the courtyard, with Vanray and Yavo scouting the stairs leading to the upper level. With only a few enemies spotted, the debate on if the team should proceed boldly or attempt to again pull the enemy back to a more advantageous position was quickly remedied when an enemy monk spotted Vanrays shiny mug taking one last peek. . .and battle was joined.

The second kerfuffle proved to be much more taxing on the teams’ resources and though Myrkuls finest found a hard-fought victory in the end, a long rest was sorely needed, and surprising little debate on THAT subject occurred.

After returning to the encampment outside of Scarlett Monastery one last time for a final sleep, the team returned to the Cathedral and prepared to face the final challenge. Upon entry through the doors of the Cathedral the team found themselves facing a lone individual who seemed to pretend to not be alone, and though professing love for someone named “Peach” also demonstrated a near obsessive attraction to Vanray. The team, well used to such attractions, paid it no mind and proceeded to combat.

Though the man with the voice of Bane proved quite resilient, his demise was soon arranged, at which point the Peach made her appearance. Battle was quickly rejoined with the clerical lady of anger and light, as she summoned magical weapons and ultimately when brought low, somehow resurrected both herself and her oddly speaking manchild. This is when the battle began to really turn as soon both Yavo and Atticus were introduced to small nap pillows thoughtfully arranged on the floor.

Through some perseverance, both Yavo and then lastly Atticus were returned to the realm of the awake with the fuzzy peach low on health but Mr. Bane clearly ticked off and still robust. Atticus is apparently unhappy with the trend of the battle as his first action upon awakening was to turn both himself and Vanray into Giant Apes, screaming something incoherent about how he’s “mad” or something in the process.

And this is where our story will pick up. In the thick of battle, with two Giant Apes about to do, who knows what, and the outcome of the battle still a mystery to all but Myrkul.

The battle picks up with Atticus and Vanray turned into two giant apes ready to do work on the Mograines fuzzy peach. Though Atticus turned himself and Vanray to giant monkeys, it is short lived and they are turned back before any damage can come from them. After some nice damage from Spinnock, Mograine and Whitemane switch positions to get her away from danger. Though out of Melee range Whitemane is not out of range of Yavo who blasts her and takes her down. With his Peach laying dead on the floor Mograine is in survival mode. Knowing his time is short he takes his last attacks to wreck Vanray already inadequate genital area. After smashing his jiggly bits to a torn mess he is finally sent to be with his peach in the afterlife. The room is searched and the following loot is found. Whitemanes Chapeau headpiece, Mograines Great hammer, Sureshot Bracers, rare sapphire, rare amethyst, rare emerald, very rare sapphire, very rare diamond, legendary topaz, and 4000 gold. Also the group moved to lvl 8. After leaving the monastery the group takes a long rest and wake up the next morning to start their travel back to the brill which takes 2 days. Sylvanis was awaiting the group to speak to them. Before they meet with her they head into town to try and regender Vanray again and also have the gems looked at. Vanray seeks out and finds the healer Laslo while Atticus seeks the enchanter Elinor. Laso is able too help Vanray not only get is manhood back but manages to give him a potion to give him a few inches. all together this magnificent man dong costs 500 gold. Atticus meets with Elinor to get his tongs enchanted. 800 gold is paid for the the initial enchantment, but she would like to take the rest of the day to see if she can enhance. Seek looks for a gemologist to get the new gems appraised. The group find Vardon the jeweler and get the 6 gems to cut. He charges 300 gold to cut them all. While they wait for the gems the group goes to meet with Sylvanis to collect the payment. The group informs her that her intel was right and there is something bigger going on. Vanray tells her of the sending stones that they found and relays all the messages they got from the sending stones. Sylvanis is shocked to hear of shadow fang keep as she lost contact with it weeks ago. Sylvanis asked that the group scout shadowfang keep while she sends scouts to the other locations. She say if we are able to clear the keep the group take possession of the keep. The group agrees. Sylvanis pays 12,000 gold for the monastery and gives them one magical item from her vault. Rohanon receives the Cloak of the Vanguard. 75 gold is spent on rooms and drinks for the night. They return to Elinor the next day and the gems are as follows.

We disguise ourselves as Scarlet Crusade and approach Shadow Fang Keep, we spot flying demons on the way. Atticus talks our way in. We hand our order to Commander Maldrake saying we’re here on Whiteman’s orders. We pass the test. We find a prison where someone is being held and Atticus casts disguise self and sends all the guards and most of the gate guards on patrol. We find Winston almost dead and give him a health potion. He explains he sent his forces outside to deal with some Scarlet crusaders, but was attacked by winged demons. We find out they’re here trying to use the ley lines to open a portal for the Burning Legends. The prisoner gives us his battle horn in case we need to summon him. The Crusader leader Zavius will have the Burning Legion Portal open in 4 days.

We head back to attack the commander, all the melee attack him while the rest try and confuse his companions. The melee take damage from his cold shield. Doug 1 shots a cleric. After taking a short sabbatical to recharge, the group progressed to having a meaningful dialogue with Charles. Overcoming Mr. Charles undead prejudices and introducing him to an appropriate level of fear proved a challenge, but no one that some inventiveness and general ruthlessness couldn’t overcome. After a few crossbow bolts were strategically placed in his appendages and a spoon was prepared to scoop out his eyeball, Charles became much more conversational.

Upon learning that the “human” forces did not proceed past where Commander Maldrake was defeated and learning that the demons are controlled entirely by Lord Zavius, the group began to plot their next move. Knowing they still had over an hour until the diverted “patrol” was due to return, the group decided to venture a bit further and see what could be found.

With Vanray listening intently at the door to the kitchen, it was determined that there must be some cooking going on in there. Vanray proceeded to super quietly open the door to take a “peek”. Unfortunately, and yet completely as expected, battle immediately commenced as the fiendish butchers charged. With the head Chef Butcher (who was clearly the biggest fan of his own cooking due to his immense size) leading the charge, the team quickly found themselves hard pressed as cleavers were flying everywhere. Myrkuls finest proved undaunted by the culinary showdown and soon the cleavers lay silent on the floor.

When Vanray peered through the keyhole into the dining hall, he saw skeletons, dozens and dozens of skeletons. Though there was, of course, no fear of the undead, there was a desire to avoid conflict with fellow undead brethren, and the “patrol” was nearly due back. Future problems will be there in the future after all.

Next on the agenda was to deal with the patrol. Led by Yavo’s tactical plan, the team quickly placed an entirely confident and not all apprehensive Atticus in the entryway while the remaining team members took up strategic hidden positions, ready to spring the deadliest of traps.

As the erstwhile patrol returned, Atticus assumed the guise of Commander Maldrake once again and greeted the crew. The very large and expansive crew. While internalizing his extreme gratitude that as an undead, the enemy couldn’t see him sweat, Atticus proceeded to regale the burning legion crew with a story of Scarlett Monastery under attack and managed, somehow, to convince them that they were under orders to make all due haste to SM to assist in breaking the siege. As the column of Burning Legion disappeared into the forest departing, an alert ear could have heard the sound not unlike a small rock dropping to the stone floor by Atticus. For those curious, yes, even an undead can shit their pants, even if it is now more of a petrified and long stored stone.

Confidence boosted, the team proceeded up the stairs and boldly through the double doors into a long hallway. A long hallway immediately terminated by a cave in. So it’s skeletons after all, annoying but easy enough to be certain. The team took up brilliantly planned strategic positions and the door was flung open, inviting the flimsy skeletons to advance.

Apparently, it is common knowledge that skeleton armies are often controlled by a necromancer. Who knew? Fireballs flew, skeletons exploded, and great headway was made, until they all started simply reforming and attacking again. The necromancer taunted and cackled, sending bolts of fire in response to the teams’ advances. Atticus and Yavo both took naps and things looked quite grim for a moment. Eventually, however the necromancer ran out of moves and his dance found him surrounded by Myrkuls finest in not very good moods. A lethal combination of hammer blows from Vaniah, bullets from Yavo and axes from Vanray finally felled the foul mage and his boney machinations.

Beaten and only slightly humiliated by the pesky skeleton army, Myrkuls finest proceeded to loot and prepare for a much-needed long rest. Upon the corpse of the Necromancer were found two items. A pair of Void-Touched Boots (given to Atticus) and a Fel-Infused Ring (given to Vaniah). Additionally, 2 common healing potions were purloined. The last item of note found upon the Necromancer was a simple tattoo that was merely three letters. “TPK” the tattoo stated, as if it had great meaning, which clearly, in the end, it did not.

And with that, the team retired to the cell blocks and took a much-needed long rest to prepare for the next day and whatever demonic surprises await.
